The Salamander is located at 48.75946, -113.7372. In 2005 this glacier covered an area of 172916 m2 and in 1966 it covered an area of 225621 m2 . That is a change of -23.40 % over this time period.
Most visitors to this glacier won't realize that it is a separate glacier from Grinnell Glacier and that is due to the low angle of their vantage point at the outlet of Upper Grinnell Lake. We climbed high above the Grinnell Valley to gain several vantage points which show off the Salamander's distinctness from Grinnell.
